Questions I had:
- Can i have both air and liquid cooling in my computer? Yes, you absolutely can have both air and liquid cooling in the same PC. In fact, it’s common in high-performance builds. Use liquid for the hottest parts (CPU/GPU), air for general airflow. If you’re serious about thermals, look into hybrid GPU coolers (liquid+fan on the same unit) or integrate a custom loop for CPU and GPU with active VRM/memory heatsinks. Just make sure airflow is optimized—liquid cooling still dumps heat into the case. CPU: use AIO liquid cooler; GPU: use air-cooled or part of liquid loop; Case fans: remove heat from RAM, VRMs, and storage
- What’s the difference between X670E (AMD) and Z790 (Intel) motherboard? X670E (AMD): Supports Ryzen 7000 series (e.g., 7700X, 7950X) and has full PCle 5.0 for GPU and storage (more future-proof). Z790 (Intel): Supports 12th, 13th, and 14th-gen Intel CPUs (e.g., i7-13700K, i9-14900K) and has PCle 5.0 for GPU, but PCle 4.0 for most M.2 storage. For multitasking and 3D software, AMD is more balanced long-term. For high clocks and creative apps like Premiere, Intel would be better.
- What does single-core speed mean?: Single-core speed refers to how fast one core of your CPU can process instructions. CPUs today have multiple cores (like multiple brains), but each core works independently on tasks. Minecraft, many digital audio plugins, and older software mostly depend on high single-core performance. On the flip side, rendering tasks (like Blender, Houdini) benefit more from multiple cores working together. High single-core speed means better performance in games, DAWs, and software that can’t fully use many cores. Multi-core speed = performance when software spreads workload across many cores (rendering, simulations).
- NVIDIA RTX 4080 Super vs 4090? NVIDIA RTX is better for massive 3D workloads and 8K gaming.
- When is 4x32GB worth it? When you’re doing massive 3D scenes, film-level video editing, or Houdini fluid sims.
- What case goes well with AORUS Xtreme? E-ATX motherboard width, RTX 4090 GPU length, big air coolers or 360mm+ radiators, massive storage options, and clean cable management. Fractal Design Torrent, Lian Li O11 Dynamic XL, Phanteks Enthoo 719 (a.k.a Luxe 2), Corsair 7000D Airflow, HYTE Y70 Touch
